Amanda McLean
Amanda is based in Sydney. She studied graphic design and fine arts and has established herself as a freelance artist since 1980. However, she has been painting her whole life.
For years, she pushed her boundaries in colour and brought a graphic design feel to her work. Amanda was regularly commissioned to produce works for both a business and a personal client base.
Amanda never felt truly immersed and content with the direction she was taking with her more structured paintings.
Being raised in the country as a young child, Amanda always felt connected to the Australian outback. She, therefore, stepped away from painting for a few years to let go of the graphic design influence and has now moved towards a more fluid and relaxed brush stroke.
Amanda’s recent acrylic paintings of Australian birds have set her on a path to being truly connected to her art.
Her love of travelling around the Australian outback camping has allowed her to experience the personalities of her subjects and to embrace the play of light and colour of the Australian outback.
