Katie Thomas

Since emigrating to Australia in 2018 my style of painting has been transformed. Inspired by the bright Australian sunshine, influencing the colours on my palette, the varied landscape and diverse wildlife. I have forever been drawn to the ocean and love to capture it on canvas. I like to inject lots of energy into my paintings by using a palette knife and large gestural strokes. I love being outdoors and taking in my surroundings. I like to take people on a journey with me through my paintings. I live next to the ocean, which features greatly in my work. I hope my energy and love for where I live comes across in my paintings.

The Northern beaches is certainly a beautiful place to be. I’m never short of painting inspiration.
