Joanna Chapman

Joanna Chapman - Artist

Joanna Chapman is a Sydney-based artist whose work celebrates the vibrant dialogue between light, texture, and the Australian landscape. A graduate of UNSW’s College of Fine Arts, Joanna possesses a deep technical foundation refined by over twenty years of private practice. Recently, she transitioned to a full-time professional studio, where she translates her lifelong connection to the environment into expressive acrylic works.

Joanna is captivated by the way light dances across the coastline and the rugged, tactile textures of the bush. Painting in an impressionist style, she intentionally leaves visible brushstrokes to invite the viewer into the work, allowing them to feel the movement and the raw energy of the scene.

For Joanna, art is a medium for sharing the profound joy nature provides. Her goal is to capture the fleeting atmospheric qualities of the Australian coastline and bush regions and translate that sense of peace into the modern home. Through her original collections and private commissions, she seeks to bridge the gap between the restorative spirit of the outdoors and the sanctuary of our interior spaces.
