Olena Vigovska
Olena Vigovska is a Ukrainian-born artist who studied at Kharkiv Art College and the University of Design before spending several years working as an environment artist in the animation industry.
Now based in Australia, Olena draws inspiration from the beauty of her surroundings, particularly the sparkling waters and colourful character of Sydney’s Northern Harbour. Her landscape paintings capture sunlight dancing across the water, along with the reflections of yachts, boats and the occasional busy harbour day.
Olena also has a great love for Australian flora. Her still-life paintings celebrate the bold shapes and colours of native flowers, with vibrant wattle being a particular favourite.
There is usually a little bit of mischief in Olena’s work, too. She enjoys mixing everyday Australian life with imagination and humour — from a zebra with a piano-key mane, ready to play jazz in a cosy Sydney bar, to Australian native animals stepping into the role of lifeguards.
Her work is colourful, playful and full of life, with a touch of humour wherever she can sneak it in.
