Seeking shade under a single umbrella tree ⏤ photographed in a conservancy on the outskirts of the Maasai Mara, where this unique ungulate family huddled together in the shade during the blazing midday heat. When I composed this image, it stood out to me due to the way it showcases the connection between African wildlife and their native flora. A single acacia tree provides food and shade to those that live amongst it, and greatly impacts the soil that holds its roots ⏤ the importance of a keystone species.
