I felt as though the trees were calling me, pulling me further into the landscape. Standing among them, I am always aware of my smallness. The Blue Mountains feel ancient, almost prehistoric, and being dwarfed by something so enduring is deeply humbling.
I have drawn into the surface with charcoal, a material born from timber itself. That gesture felt like a direct connection to the land — marking trees with the remains of trees. This work reflects that quiet moment of surrender.
