When I arrived at the chimp exhibit at Taronga Zoo, it was time for their lunch. Excited chimps were darting all over the place in anticipation of their food. All eyes were on these chimps, but I
noticed one who waited patiently, studying his hand, engrossed by the present moment and unperturbed by all the antics around him. Through the chimpanzee’s focused gaze, I invite the
viewer to reflect on the simplicity and profundity of being present, urging a collective slowdown in our frenetic lives.
